Music with My Friends is the latest album by Grammy nominated accordionist Alex Meixner. The collaborative process with current and former members of Alex's regular touring band is showcased in repertoire that ranges from the bluegrass inflected solos on "When Tears Become Laughter" to a mashup of the AC/DC rock anthem "Thunderstruck" with the Sousa march "The Thunderer". Other highlights of this collection include Polka Hall of Famer, Hank Guzevich vocalizing on his Grammy nominated composition "Fiddle Faddle", a new Austrian vocal tune entitled "Wildes Mad'l" and the "Air Accordion Song" which is encouraging audiences to get into the groove by playing along with Alex!

This album started back in 2018 when my good friend Todd Harris suggested I do some work at Ohio Recording Company. Routinely when I’m traveling with my band, I like to document the progress of some new tunes and arrangements, so I was excited to meet Brennan Willis and check out his studio. The boys in the band and I all enjoyed the environment, and we’d pass through on tours getting different ideas together. Todd dropped in with a few songs and a bunch of the musicians from the rotating cast of characters that make up the Alex Meixner Band contributed their unique talents to the songs. When Covid hit, obviously all of our touring ground to halt and gave me time to contemplate a lot about life, and obviously the music that encircles so much of my existence. These songs have all come together because of the amazing friendships I have been lucky enough to experience through music.I hope you enjoy the wonderful artistic people I am blessed to collaborate and create with on “Music with my Friends.”
